Fjord 40 - Open

Fjord who currently build a range of specialist motor boats marketed under the brand name of Terne. These boats are available from 21 ft to 28 ft and are built with individual care and attention to detail. In 2005, Fjord’s managing director Morton Nordvold and Hanse Yachts agreed that Fjord needed both a new vision and a return to the central concept of the brand: The benefits of Fjord’s seafaring culture and experience should again be available to the boating public.

The new team’s goal is to return the Fjord name to the pinnacle of the European motor yacht industry. The new Fjord concept requires a clear vision. Beginning in 2006, Fjord began to develop a range of boats from 21 to 65 feet, including open cockpit, flybridge and limited edition models.

The naval architects at Allseas Design, led by Patrick Banfield, have intrigued customers seeking to have large yachts built. Some of the hottest motor yachts in the Mediterranean are Allseas designs.

Allseas designs succeed by combining the creative inspiration of Patrick Banfield with the solid experience of Jim Wilshire. From the Baltic, Hanse Yachts contributes the talents of its in-house design team and its experience as one of Europe’s most modern yacht manufacturers – experience honed by the trials of daily life in a modern yacht production facility. The three diverse backgrounds fit together well.

The plan is to reinvent the motorboat, or to build tomorrow’s motoryacht today. The team Fjord have created can do it because they know what matters. As with Hanse Yachts sailboats, we start with clean, uncluttered lines and to produce boats that can offer fast passages in heavy seas second to none. A Fjord that moves quickly and quietly. As experienced sailors we value seaworthiness but this must be combined with a quiet boat, so we drastically reduced the noise. Owners need to be able to relax in peace from the first moment they step onboard a new Fjord.
