Overseas FJORD Deliveries

Overseas Deliveries - Commissioning, Logistics & Handovers

We often get asked if we can deliver outside of the UK and the answer is very much yes - every situation is different and requires careful evaluation of how the purchase will be undertaken, where the ultimate delivery location is and the logistics of Customs and VAT in the delivery jurisdiction.

If you are thinking of keeping a boat outside of the UK, please do get in touch to see how we can help.

South of France

With many UK clients choosing to base themselves in the Mediterranean, transport from the UK to France, Spain, Italy and the Adriatic countries are commonplace.

COCO is a beautifully spec'd 41XL that the owner originally ordered back in 2021 and they finally took delivery this summer in the South of France.

COCO was initially delivered to the UK for commissioning and to enable the onward use of Temporary Admission into Europe for the owner - essentially permitting the boat to be within EU Territorial waters for up to 18 months without VAT being chargeable.

Our engineering team prepared a number of customisations here and put the boat through all of her Pre-Delivery Inspection processes for Volvo Penta, Fisher Panda and Quick Gyro Stabilizers. After sign off and a successful set of sea trials, it was back out of the water to prepare her for transport.

Given the changeable weather conditions of early spring, it was decided we would cover her with a protective shrink wrap for the road transport with one of our expert road haulage partners. We acted for the owner in preparing and submitting all of the customs documentation required for the Temporary Admission application alongside our Registration Partner who secured the owner a well-regarded Jersey Registration.

Our engineers flew out to meet COCO in Antibes and were rather disappointed to find the same weather they had left behind in the UK....! We spent a further week re-commissioning her post-transport and conducted our handover process with the owner.

We are delighted to hear the owner and their family have enjoyed many trips out over the summer and they are already starting to think about 2025 and beyond!

Bahamas

We first met the now-owner of SIANNA back in 2022 at Southampton Boat Show and learnt of his plans to take a Fjord 41XL to his new home in The Bahamas.

After some careful consideration of specification choices and the requirements of boating in that area, we settled on a personalised spec including full paint, a custom Garmin Navigation suite with forward and side-scan sonar, and much more.

Due to the level of personalisation required, we bought SIANNA to the UK for the works with a plan to onward-ship her to Florida and then drive across to The Bahamas.

She went through a full suite of checks and sea trials before being lifted back out the water for painting and final equipment installs.

The Garmin system was specified specifically due to the shallow nature of much of the boating in Bahamas - unmarked reefs and sandbanks are common obstacles for boaters, so a forward scan sonar transducer for obstacle avoidance, along with a side-scan unit to assist when navigating unmarked channels seemed a logical choice for this boat.

The painting was done with one of our specialist contractors here in Southampton, including a full post-cure to prevent shrinkage, required meticulous preparation to achieve a stunning final finish that with regular maintenance, will continue to look good for many years to come.

Safety kit, some internal modifications and accessories, plus a specialist coding survey to prepare her for future charter use, were all undertaken on behalf of the owner and we supplied her with some common service items and spares in anticipation of a busy season on the water.

Once she was ready to go, she was loaded at Southampton Docks for the 3 week trip to Florida, offloading at Palm Beach. We flew out to meet her and supervise the offload, and subsequently moved her down the Florida Coast to our base marina in Fort Lauderdale.

The boating scene in Florida is incredible and we had a great few days there preparing her for her crossing to Bimini Island, the first stop on our journey across. The owner and his family joined us for the trip and we had great conditions for the run across, averaging a leisurely 29 knots! There was extensive testing of the stereo and fridges on route, which we can confirm met with full approval!

After a night in Bimini, we carried on to New Providence Island where SIANNA would be based in the exclusive marina of Old Fort Bay. Conditions were less settled for this run with a gusty beam sea for almost all of the route, but SIANNA handled them perfectly and kept pace with some much larger vessels making the same trip.

Finally, we arrived and after setting up the berth for the owner with some customised fender pads, she was in place for the owner and his skipper to have some fun.

Offloading at Palm Beach - always a little nerve-wracking but the loadmaster and his team were great.

Sat at anchor as the sun went down in the Bahamas - a truly stunning spot for boating.
